The Real Risk

Cancer Touches Nearly Every Family

A healthy lifestyle lowers the risk, but it doesn't remove it. Cancer remains the second most common cause of death for both women and men — and most diagnoses come later in life, when a fixed income has less room to absorb a financial shock.

39% / 41%

of women and men, respectively, will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

88%

of all cancers are diagnosed in people age 50 or older.

Every 16 seconds

a new cancer is diagnosed somewhere in the United States.

The Real Costs

Survival Is Rising — and So Is the Bill

There's real good news: more people are surviving cancer than ever, and the number of survivors is expected to grow about 24% by 2032. But treatment costs are climbing too — projected to rise roughly 34% by 2030 — and a large share of what families pay isn't medical at all.

How It Works

Cash That Goes Straight to You

If you're diagnosed with cancer or carcinoma in situ, the policy pays 100% of the benefit amount you selected — in a single lump sum, paid directly to you or someone you designate. It pays regardless of any other health insurance you carry, and there are no rules about how you spend it.

  • Cover deductibles, co-pays, and prescriptions
  • Pay for travel and lodging near a specialist
  • Replace income during time away from work
  • Keep up with the mortgage and everyday bills
  • Pay for help at home during recovery
  • Protect retirement and emergency savings

Your Questions, Answered

Does my Medicare Advantage plan already cover cancer treatment?

Your Medicare Advantage plan generally helps cover approved medical treatment, but you may still have:

  • Deductibles
  • Copays
  • Coinsurance
  • Travel expenses
  • And other out-of-pocket costs during treatment and recovery

A Cancer Protection Plan is designed to provide additional financial support during a covered cancer diagnosis.

How does a Cancer Protection Plan work?

If you receive a covered cancer diagnosis, the plan pays a lump-sum cash benefit directly to you.

You can generally use the money however you choose.

What can the money be used for?

Many people use the benefit to help with:

  • Medical expenses
  • Travel for treatment
  • Mortgage or rent payments
  • Groceries
  • Household bills
  • Caregiving expenses
  • Or other recovery-related costs
Is this the same as a Medicare Supplement plan?

No.

A Cancer Protection Plan is separate from Medicare and is not a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan.

It is an optional supplemental protection plan designed to help provide additional financial support during a covered cancer diagnosis.

Can I choose my coverage amount?

Yes.

Plans are generally available with different benefit amounts so clients can choose the level of protection that fits their needs and budget.

Are spouses eligible for coverage too?

In many cases, yes.

Some plans allow spouses or other family members to apply for coverage as well.

Is this coverage guaranteed issue?

That depends on the plan and the timing of the application.

Some health questions or underwriting may apply.

Is this coverage right for everyone?

No.

These plans are optional and may not be the right fit for every person or every budget.

The purpose of this information is simply to help you understand what options may be available so you can make an informed decision.

How do I learn more?

The best next step is a simple coverage review.

We can help you:

  • Review your current Medicare coverage
  • Identify potential gaps
  • Explain how these plans work
  • And determine whether additional protection makes sense for your situation
